About the Owner

Hi everybody! My name is Molly and I am the proud owner of Roots Plant Co. My path to this plant shop was neither a straight nor direct one, but I have loved every part of my journey! Born and raised in Alaska, I decided to join the Navy right out of college and spent the next seven years serving, traveling, learning, and meeting the most incredible people, including my husband Christopher. We finished up our service to the Navy, Christopher transferred to the Coast Guard, and we ended up here in Elizabeth City in the spring of 2022. We have two incredible little boys, Henry and Willem, two sweet rescue pups, Charles and Hatcher, 8 backyard chickens, and a love for all things green. 

After settling into our new community, I felt a strong pull to create a space that brought people together through plants, creativity, and connection. Opening a brick and mortar shop was a huge risk, but it felt like the natural next step—a way to root myself in this town and grow something meaningful!
